  • The face of the check should have a preprinted bank name, address, and check number.
  • The candidate or payee’s name and address should be indicated on the check.
  • The check date cannot be over 1.5 months or 90 days old.
  • It will not be accepted if new bank account starter checks do not have a preprinted name and address.

Does ETS offer financial help for the GRE General Test?

Yes, ETS has a program called the GRE Fee Reduction Program to assist those students who need financial help.

What is the GRE Fee Reduction Program?

It is an initiative of the ETS to help individuals with financial needs. Selected individuals are given a voucher for a 50% discount off the regular test fee which is $205 in most areas of the world. Note that this voucher cannot be used along with other promos or offers. Aside from the voucher, they are also eligible for free study materials that have a $100 value.

Who is eligible for the GRE Fee Reduction Program?

Individuals who can demonstrate financial need, individuals who are unemployed and receiving unemployment compensation, and national programs that work with underrepresented groups are eligible for the GRE Fee Reduction Program.

How to be eligible for the GRE Fee Reduction Program?

Eligibility requirement that must be met to get into the GRE fee waiver program. There are also instances where special considerations are given. These criteria are the following:

  • The examinee must be a citizen of the United States or a resident alien.
  • The examinee must be unemployed.
  • The examinee must be a college senior or a college graduate, and not enrolled.
  • The examinee must be part of national programs for the underrepresented.

If the examinee is a college senior:

  • The examinee must receive financial aid in the United States, US Territories, or Puerto Rico.
  • The examinee must be dependent, who has a FAFSA Student Aid Report that proves a parental contribution of not exceeding $2500 for the college senior year.
    • If this is not applicable, the examinee must be self-supporting and have a Student Aid Report (SAR) that shows a contribution of not exceeding $3000 for the college senior year.

If the examinee is an unenrolled college graduate:

  • The examinee must have applied for financial aid.
  • The examinee must have a SAR that proves a self-supporting status.
    • The examinee must have a contribution of not exceeding $3000.

If the examinee is unemployed:

  • The examinee must be a citizen of the United States or a resident alien.
  • The examinee must be 18 years old or older.
  • The examinee must be unemployed for the past six months.
  • The examinee must be able to provide a copy of an Unemployment Benefits Statement from the past 3 months or 90 days as proof.

Do GRE General Test fees change annually?

No, GRE fees do not change every year. Note, however, that these fees are subject to change without notice.

Can I refund my GRE General Test payment?
