How to register for the GRE online?

To register for the GRE test online, follow these steps:

  1. Create an ETS account. Ensure that the name used in the registration is the same name that reflects on ID Documents.
  2. Select the testing date and location. On the GRE homepage, click the “Register/Find Test Centers, Dates” button. Pick the desired date and test location.
  3. Verify email address. Confirm personal information and agree to the testing terms and conditions.
  4. Settle the GRE fees. Payment can be done through online banking, E-check, and Paypal. Credit card/Debit card is also accepted which includes American Express, Diners Club International, Discover, JCB, MasterCard and Visa.

How to register for the GRE via mail registration?

The GRE mail registration process is as follows:

  1. Form Completion: Fill out the GRE Authorization Voucher Request Form found in the GRE registration bulletin or ETS.
  2. Payment and Form Mailing: Check the address printed on the voucher. Then, mail the check or money with the signed voucher request form.
  3. Register through the authorization voucher: After receiving the authorization voucher, register online or call to schedule an appointment. Set an appointment prior to the expiration date of your authorization voucher.

How to register for the GRE test via phone?

Phone registration for GRE includes the following steps:

  1. Early registration: Register at least two days before the preferred test date. Phone registration is not available for home-based test takers and test takers in Mainland China, Hongkong, Taiwan and Korea.
  2. Call Test Centers or Prometric Services: United States test-takers can call 1-443-751-4820 or 1-800-473-2255 directly. For other international test-takers, find the contact details on Regional Registration Center (RRC) and make a call.
  3. Fee Payment: Pay for the GRE registration fee. Credit or debit card, PayPal, and E-check are the mode of payments accepted by ETS.

How much is the GRE Registration Fee?

As of July 1, 2021, the GRE General Test fee is $205.00 across all countries. India and China have a different GRE General Test fee which is $231.00 The cost for the GRE General Test is inclusive of any value-added taxes. The fees are subject to change without prior notice.

How much is the GRE rescheduling fee?

$50.00 is the rescheduling fee of the GRE worldwide except in China. $53.9 is the rescheduling fee for the GRE test in China. Rescheduling is only allowed in the same testing year period.

How much does it cost to change the registered GRE test center?

$50.00 is the charge for changing the testing center. Test center changes are not assured due to other centers’ limited accommodation.

How much is the late registration fee?

$50.00 is the late registration fee for the GRE test. Late registration is only allowed on a computer-based or online examination.

$150.00 is the cost of the GRE Subject Test fee.

  3. Register through the authorization voucher. After receiving the authorization voucher, register online or call to schedule an appointment. Set an appointment prior to the expiration date of your authorization voucher.

ETS reserves the right to add or delete payment options at its own discretion and without notice. In any case of losing the authorization voucher, contact ETS for replacement.

What are the Identification Card requirements for the GRE registration?

GRE test takers’ identification cards must meet the following criteria:

  • Government ID. The ID must be government-issued by the country, state, or province where the test-taker resides.
  • Date Validated ID. Expired identification cards are not accepted. The ID must have an unexpired valid date.
  • Photo ID. The ID must include a recent and recognizable photograph of the examinee.
  • Signed ID. The signature and name of the examinee must match the ID provided.

Identification cards must be presented by all test takers both online and at a test center. All Identification Card criteria must be followed to be eligible for the GRE test.

What to expect after your GRE Registration has been processed?

After you register for the GRE test, a confirmation email will be sent from the ETS that confirms the preferred test choice, examination date, test centers, and score recipients.

How to Prepare for the GRE after registration?

To prepare for the GRE, follow these steps:

  1. Select a GRE target score. Set a goal and determine the desired GRE score.
  2. Create a study plan. Build an effective study plan and schedule. Focus on your best learning techniques.
  3. Build up GRE vocabulary. The verbal section in GRE consists of vocabulary which is a vital part of the exam. Get familiar with words and create a list.
  4. Take GRE Practice Tests. Answer sample questionnaires and assess what questions are challenging and study further.
