OSEP Part B Regulations Regional Implementation Meetings
Registration is now available for the OSEP Part B Regulations Regional Implementation Meetings.  The meetings are designed to support states in their implementation of the Part B Final Regulations, which were released in early August.

New Module on Implementing RTI in Reading
The IRIS Center for Faculty Enhancement, in collaboration with the Tennessee Department of Education and the TN State Improvement Grant, has recently posted its third in a series of modules on Response to Intervention (RTI).  The newest interactive online module, “RTI (Part 3): Reading Instruction” emphasizes the importance of implementing high-quality instructional practices and teaching students the five key components of reading instruction.  Learn how to deliver effective reading instruction in a three-tier RTI model, schedule time for daily reading instruction, and collaborate effectively with intervention providers.

State Problem-Solving Initiatives
Due to the passage of IDEA 2004, Response to Intervention (RTI) has gained heightened attention as a problem-solving process that improves instruction and meets the needs of all learners.  Find out how some states are using RTI or a similar problem-solving program to improve student achievement.  Visit the Regional Resource and Federal Center Network’s Links Directory, under “State Activities, Policy and Guidance” for specific information on states’ initiatives.

The National Center on Student Progress Monitoring, funded by the U.S. Department of Education, Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP), was established to meet the challenge of implementing effective student progress monitoring in order to improve academic instruction. Our mission is to provide technical assistance to states and districts and to disseminate information about student progress monitoring practices proven to work in different academic content areas in grades K-5.
