Call for Tools!
Each year our Center asks vendors to submit student progress monitoring tools so that the tools can be reviewed by our Technical Review Committee and included in our tools chart. This year's call for submissions of student progress monitoring tools is now available online. The deadline for submission is May 1, 2006.
If you are using a tool that you do not see on our tools chart, please encourage the vendor to participate in this review.

Mark your calendars for the 2006 Summer Institute on Student Progress Monitoring. An exciting agenda is being developed that will include sessions on Response to Intervention (RTI) for grades K-3, how to use CBM to improve instruction in reading and math, and how to implement student progress monitoring in your state, district, and school.

New Progress Monitoring Webinar
The Access Center recently hosted a webinar called Progress Monitoring: Data to Inform Instructional Decision-Making that is now available on their website. In the webinar, presenter Tracey Hall, one of our Center Trainers, explains how to implement progress monitoring, particularly Curriculum-Based Measurement. The Access Center: Improving Outcomes for All Students K-8 works to enhance access to the general education curriculum for students with disabilities. |

CBM Resources for the Secondary-School Level
This product, created by one of our partners, the Research Institute on Progress Monitoring (RIPM), contains a reference list of articles and book chapters on the development of student progress monitoring procedures for secondary-school students in reading, content-area learning, and writing. It also includes a brief section on student progress monitoring practices that have been proven to work at the secondary level. For your convenience, there is a permanent link to this resource from the articles and research section of our library. |

Advances in Progress Monitoring: Curriculum-Based Measurement Research & Innovations
May 5-6, 2006
University of Minnesota, St Paul Campus
Advances in Progress Monitoring focuses on the current status of research and innovation in progress monitoring. Sessions will focus on advances in measurement and procedures in reading, written expression, math, algebra, social studies, and science. Evidence will be presented on the extensions of progress monitoring to the areas of early childhood, deaf & hard of hearing, English language learners, and students with significant cognitive disabilities. This event is sponsored by the Phyllis Mirkin Colloquium Fund, the Special Education Program, University of Minnesota, and the Research Institute on Progress Monitoring (RIPM).

The National Center on Student Progress Monitoring, funded by the U.S. Department of Education, Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP), was established to meet the challenge of implementing effective student progress monitoring in order to improve academic instruction. Our mission is to provide technical assistance to states and districts and to disseminate information about student progress monitoring practices proven to work in different academic content areas in grades K-5.
