Center Holds Successful 2007 Summer Institute on Student Progress Monitoring!
About 350 attendees gained in-depth, hands-on experience in implementing progress monitoring in a variety of subject areas, including written expression, reading, and math during the 2007 Summer Institute for the National Center on Student Progress Monitoring. Leaders in the field also explained how to use curriculum-based measurement (CBM) to determine response to intervention, and aligning CBM with district benchmarks and adequate yearly progress. If you were unable to attend this exciting, informative meeting, we will be providing all of the manuals, handouts, and Power Point presentations from this year's Institute online. As soon as these are available, we will feature them in The Progress Monitor. |

OSEP Holds 2007 Project Director's Conference; Our Center Presented Workshop on SPM and RTI
During the U.S. Department of Education's Office of Special Education Program's (OSEP) Project Directors Conference held this month, our Center presented a workshop
about Student Progress Monitoring (SPM) using curriculum-based measurement (CBM) in reading, and how this practice fits into an RTI model. A research summary on reading CBM and its utility for RTI was followed by opportunities for participants to practice using the instruments and making instructional decisions based on students' scores.
In addition, the workshop included examples of course syllabi that outline how SPM can be included in pre service teacher training programs.
