Cost per student for Year 1: $8.04 for one product; reduced pricing for multiple products (assuming 5,000 students) [$7.74 per student per year + $1,500.00 one-time set-up fee for 0-5,000 students]. Optional costs include reading paper forms for $1.60 and mathematics paper forms for $2.50. Student answer sheets (bubble sheets) $37.55 for a pack of 500. Paper option requires the use of a scanner. On-site training is also available. Cost for subsequent years: $7.74 for one product; $9.74 for Mathematics and Reading; reduced pricing for multiple products. |
Testers will require less than 1 hour of training. A self-paced online training course, train-the-trainer PowerPoint, and online training center (sandbox) are made available to customers. Paraprofessionals can administer the test. Accommodations: Paper option is available for students with disabilities at an additional cost. |
Pearson Educational Measurement Field tested training manuals are available and should provide all needed implementation information. Training manuals/materials included in cost of tools. Ongoing free technical support is available at 1-888-597-1103 and |
PASeries is a scientifically based formative assessment instrument that provides regular progress monitoring and forecasts student achievement. Built from the ground up to provide valid, reliable, actionable data; PASeries provides coverage of grades 3-8 in Reading and Mathematics and grades 6-12 in Algebra I and Writing. Flexible administration allows for online or paper delivery in one class period. Mathematics assesses the following dimensions: Numbers and operations; geometry; Algebra (patterns and functions); data analysis and probability; and measurement. Reading assesses comprehension and vocabulary. |
It takes 40-50 minutes to administer the test. Scoring is automated and takes between 0-1 minutes. Student and classroom level reports are available immediately. Building, district, and state level reports are batch processed in evenings. There are 3 forms per level, per grade in the reading product; 6 forms per grade for the mathematics product Raw score, IRT-based score, and error analysis scores are available for Reading and Mathematics assessments. Subscale/subtest scores are available for mathematics only. Raw scores are calculated by summing the number of correct responses. All unanswered and incorrect responses are scored as wrong. Raw scores are converted to scale scores (Lexile or Quantile measures) using IRT methodology; the difficulty of each item, in logits, is used within a Bayesian framework to estimate the student’s latent ability. Cluster scores (in mathematics) are calculated by summing the number of correct responses for items classified into one of five strands: numbers and operations, geometry, algebra/patterns & functions, data analysis & probability, and measurement. |
