Annual cost per student for Sopris West materials:

Package One:

$2.36 per student for year 1 and $1.40 per student for subsequent years. This price includes materials for all grade level DIBELS measures.

Package Two:

$59.00 for the complete kit for year 1 and $35.00 for subsequent years. This includes pre-printed benchmark, progress monitoring, and Administration and Scoring Guide materials for 25 students.

Storage & Reporting Option:

$1.00 per student per year for DIBELS data system to maintain, summarize, and report scores. This includes benchmark, progress monitoring, and unlimited reports.

Forms and materials can be downloaded and photocopied for free from the DIBELS website .

Internet access is required for full use of product services.

Testers will require 1-4 hours of training. Paraprofessionals can administer the test.

Accommodations: A list of DIBELS approved accommodations is available in the Administration and Scoring Guide (e.g., giving directions in the student’s primary language or sign language).

Students may respond using their strongest mode of communication. For example, the student may sign, use a word board, or compute to use a word or read a passage. The tester should make a professional judgment regarding the fluency of response. If the student’s fluency is affected by the accommodation, then the standard scoring rules should not be applied.

A Braille edition of stimulus materials may also be used if a student has sufficient skills with Braille. Scores for the Braille edition may not be directly comparable.

The DIBELS–DORF is a standardized, individually administered test of accuracy and reading fluency with connected text for students in grades 1 through 5 and above. It is a standardized set of passages and administration procedures designed to identify children who may need additional instructional support, and monitor progress toward instructional goals.

Student performance is measured by having students read a passage aloud for one minute. Words omitted, substituted, and hesitations of more than three seconds are scored as errors. Words self-corrected within three seconds are scored as accurate. The number of correct words per minute from the passages is the oral reading fluency rate.

The tool provides information on student performance in English.

The test was normed using a national sample of 12,000 third graders to 37,000 first graders.

DIBELS–DORF takes 2 minutes per probe (6 minutes per 3 probes) to administer to individual students.

30 alternate forms per grade are available for progress monitoring.

Raw, percentile and developmental benchmark scores are available.

Raw scores are calculated by adding the number of correct words per minute. A composite score is provided along with instructional recommendations obtained by calculating the odds of achieving subsequent literacy outcomes from longitudinal research.

The benchmark goal is 40 correct words per minute by the end of first grade; 90 correct words per minute by the end of second grade; and 110 correct words per minute by the end of third grade. Goals are based on achieving subsequent early literacy goals.
